Wales Coast Path

Launched on May 5th 2012, the Wales Coast Path is the first path of its kind in the world, encompassing the entire 877 miles of Welsh coastline in one continuous path.

The Denbighshire section covers 7 miles / 11 kilometres between Gronant and Rhyl. The route mapped here, deviates slightly from the coast path and follows the National Cycle route 5 between Gronant and Barkby beach, thus allowing a 7 mile / 11km linear route on smooth tarmac and concrete surface.

Instead of taking the cycle route through Prestatyn golf club, the Wales Coast Path route through Gronant Dunes Nature reserve may be taken to Barkby beach. The path surface along this section is soft sand with some sections of steep wooden board walk.
