Brenig Way - Visitor Info
Nestling between the Dee Valley and Snowdonia, the Brenig Way follows quiet paths through stunning parts of the countryside that are often overlooked. Why not get away from the crowds and explore these forgotten landscapes? The path meanders, taking in beautiful views and historic places. Why not take time yourself to explore this special area?
Getting there:
Corwen is located on the A5 in North East Wales, just over an hour from Liverpool, and less than 2 hours from Manchester and Birmingham.
Llyn Brenig is located some 4 mile north of Cerrigydrudion on the A5.
Public Transport:
The closest mainline station is at Ruabon on the Chester to Shrewsbury line. From here the X94 or number 5 bus travels to Corwen.
Brenig Bus: there is a grant-funded bus service (no 72) that runs during the summer months between Corwen and Denbigh via Llyn Brenig twice a day at weekends. This provides transport to much of the southern section of the route, making it invaluable for day walks. It also provides a means of returning to your starting point if completing the path in its entirety.
Important: Please note that the Brenig Bus is grant funded and the timetable may be subject to change. At present (April 2012) we are seeking funding for this year’s bus, but the current economic climate is making this quite challenging. When further details are available, the website will be updated.
The villages of Betws Gwerfil Goch, Melin y Wig and Cyffylliog are also served by a Flexi bus service from Ruthin. These need to be requested by phoning 01978 820820 during office hours, giving at least one hour’s notice.
Please check on www.traveline-cymru.info for up to date information.
Accomodation
There are several accommodation providers along the route. Please check on www.visitwales.co.uk or www.walkingnorthwales.co.uk or telephone Llangollen Tourist Information Centre on 01978 860828.
