From the windswept sand dunes of Gronant along the coast, over the heather clad ridge of Moel Famau and the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to the dramatic Dee Valley, Denbighshire is blessed with a diverse and impressive landscape.

Denbighshire Countryside Service  are a dynamic team that strive to improve and promote this special landscape, its wildlife and heritage.  We manage over 32 Countryside Sites, including 2 Country Parks and 3 Local Nature Reserves, as valuable places for wildlife to thrive and for you to explore and enjoy.

The majority of the work we undertake is built on strong partnerships with communities, volunteers,  farmers, and landowners as well as other organisations such as Forestry Commission Wales, Countryside Council for Wales, and Cadw – all with a common goal of improving our environment and making it more accessible.

There are plenty of opportunities for you to get more out of Denbighshire’s countryside. Each year, we produce a fantastic events programme called Out & About. This free booklet is crammed full of family events, guided walks and practical projects, providing you with exciting things to do and great places to go to get the best out of the fabulous Denbighshire Countryside.

In addition, we also produce a Volunteer Programme that is packed with a variety of practical events from dry stone walling to heather burning. We have over 70 volunteers who regularly come and assist with all sorts of activities – anyone is welcome to come and have a go.
