Strange sightings at Pen y Pigyn!

Date: 31.10.2012

Strange creatures were spotted on Monday evening in Corwen, and were fortunately recorded by local artists Ben Davis and Jude Wood.  Ghosts, monsters bats and witches were amongst the spooky sightings.

As it happens, Ben and Jude had a hand in creating the creatures, as they were running a “Drawing with Light” workshop for the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB.  AONB Officer, Ros Stockdale explained “We have received a Community Engagement Award from Countryside Council for Wales, to get people more involved with their local environment.  A group of 20 local people of all ages took part in the workshop, and after a bit of a practice in the Healthy Living Centre, we went up to Pen y Pigyn and had a lot of fun creating some new residents for Halloween.”

The images were created by taking a photograph on a very slow exposure, and having participants drawing with shapes with a variety of torches. Gail    , who participated in the event said “it was quite hard to do, as you can’t see what you’re drawing until you have a look at the photo at the end, but I think we created some really good pictures.  My favourite is the one with the witches with their cauldron on the Gorsedd stone, but we really enjoyed the whole event.  It was lovely to be up in Pen y Pigyn in the evening, and we even got to see some real bats!
